Normally when doing Yoga or Pilates, you don’t need to wear socks. Bare feet give better grip to help you grab the mat securely so you can balance and achieve a certain posture well. But if you need a little bit extra warmth or want to protect your ankles better, a pair of special made socks would be perfect for this purpose.

Inspired by a free pattern designed by Claire Herne I dug from Ravelry (please see the photo at the left from knitter gtwife), I modified one pair of my old wool blended socks by cutting the worn toes and heels up and making them like two tubes. It’s very cool to wear. The opening toes and heels allow you still having the freedom to touch the ground firmly but the wrap around ankles and middle of insole area give you a feeling of being protected. Plus, it’s a great project to use up all your left-over yarn.

At the moment, I haven’t decided if I am going to knit one, as all my purchased socks actually ended up worn out and having holes at toe or heel areas, so what I need to do is only to modify on my oldies. I don’t even need to knit a pair :-)
