I would like to recommend a website as a hands-on tool for people who have to drive to places they have never been. Like me, I always sit beside my husband and am responsible for pointing him a proper direction. Most of time, I rely on the detailed map. But there were a number of times that I felt so stressed when the new traffic lights have not been stated in the map or there has had a road condition changed after the time the map being printed off. It’s frantic feeling when you get that kind of situation. The driver counts on you and you have no idea what’s going on, and, you even don’t know enough to find a new alternative option to fix the problem quickly. This sort of thing happens a lot, especially in Sydney. There are too many “No right Turn” and “No Left Turn” signs and too many one-way roads, which you can not identify them on the map until you get to there.

Anyway, I got off the track too much. The website is simple as its name “Whereis”. What you gotta do is to simply type in the address of your destination and your origin, and the website will do the rest. You will get a map and a step-by-step direction to tell you which street to turn left and how long it would take to travel from last segment to the next segment. So if you carry one in your car or stick it on your wheel when you are driving, you don’t have to turn many pages of map directory. You just need to follow the instruction like a dummy and do what they say on the sheet.

That’s how I got to Pirie Street in Fyshwick today with one of my workmates. Although I know the destination quite well, I was still excited to find how well the whole thing went. Try it, if you are living in Australia. Let me tell you, it will totally get your brain and hands free on the road.
