We started this new week in a weird way. The electricity worked beautifully until 9am the lights suddenly blackout. The air conditioning stopped working, the computers were dead and we, were left in the cold and the dark, having no idea where are we up to. Going outside for a bit sun? or just holding the cuppa and sitting in the corner for a meditation? I did both, and I also made a couple of personal calls getting a quote of one-night accommodation in Tumbrumba.
But it turned out running out the electricity can bring people closer to each other. I thought I wouldn’t cope the cold in my office, so I walked to the front office where was the only room still had heating and light. Funny that all girls were there, sitting back and talking about something that they might not have talked about in a normal work place.
The lights got back until 2:30pm. I had only 2 hours before I am supposed to head home. We really had a short day, but the work has accumulated since last Friday. I can imagine what it would look like tomorrow morning. Everything will come to me. Payments need to be investigated, documents need to be pulled up or filed away, phone calls need to be made and meetings need to be attended. I will be on the run……
But it was still nice to have a moment like this morning. Learned that “Be Same mucho” actually means “Kiss me a lot”, laughed about the Queanbeyan’s famous Italian guy who always feels a slightly better than others, talked about how rude the next door dress shop treats its big size customers and noticed that someone here actually has a shoe fetish. It was once-a-year opportunity that you wouldn’t get very often. So, what should I say before we got back to work? “We should do this again some time” ? Oh, just shut the mouth up!!!
