I was so in the mood to cook some lamb stew (probably with some curry flavour) today as I actually started to feel hungry after the lunch time. But when I got back home at about 5:15pm, I was told that there was no water supply in the house. I knocked neighbour’s door and also rang City Council’s after hours emergency phone number, nobody seemed to know the situation. The only thing we know is that some guys who were doing construction work on the road turned off the water pipe in the afternoon, and promised to get the water back in half an hour. But it was 5:45pm already, the household time, it was still no water. I didn’t see any workers still working on the road, just very strange!!! We suspected that maybe guys forgot to turn the water back on.
I was starving, neither my husband could wait till the problem to be solved. So we ordered some Turkish Grill take away, and in half an hour later, we got a bunch of food home, a beef pide, a big Turkish bread, chilly dip, veggie salad, zucchini balls with yogurt dressing and a tray of Turkish rice with one lamb screw and one chicken screw, also grilled eggplant, carrots and green beans.
And all these on their menu are just for one person for about $18.50 AUD. I don’t know how Turkish people could eat so much food. Usually one person’s food would feed my husband and me just well; we even had left-overs. And in my office, the situation is more extreme. We normally have 8 persons to eat 2 person’s serve and still have left-over.
But Turkish is something you could never say “no” to it. My husband is very fussy about western food, but he likes Turkish. Pide is so yummy and tasty, much better than Italian Pizza. And you get much more and versatile food than what you’ve got from Pizza Hut and Domino, and they seems much healthier and more satisfying. I like the way how they make pide and the taste of Turkish bread, which is the only bread my husband doesn’t dislike.
Anyway, my lamb stew was put on hold. I will have to try really hard tomorrow night to make it at least comparable to Turkish
