I had a quick preview on these new 33 designs on the website, and I think I really like them, not as knitting ideas, but as a phenomenon.

I think the fashion world has experimented the all, the textures, the shapes, the constructions, the fabric, the conceptions…..After so many years exploring, there is only one element left for designers to play with, and that, seems to have endlessly possibilities. This element is called COLOURS.

I can see the Fair Isle and cables are coming back. I mean the real creative, beautiful and luxury fair isle with a personality (like Norwegian’s) and the real classic but bold cables, plus some pleats, A shape as details. I guess people nowadays want to make an announcement through what they wear. VK is definitely carrying that message.

Actually VK is always very good at presenting things, colourful photos, beautiful layouts, all matching but very dramatic outfits to allow the main design stand out like a thousands-dollars fashion piece.

The only problem is that it always has super slim girls as models for its designs. It causes the wrong impression of its readers about how the knitting garment is supposed to look like in the “REALITY” on ordinary people’s body. The photos on the magazine are just too nice and too perfect to be ture. Sometimes, I have to doubt if this is gonna work out on me equally well as it is on those pretty women.

But, no matter how they would fail you, they are always pleasant to see and full of inspiration.3 weeks ago when I was home in China, I found a 1984′s US VK magazine on a book shelf. I just adore the designs in that issue, even it’s back to 24 years ago. I decided to bring it back here, and I did. I guess there are still some projects that are very enlightening and worth trying.
