I went to a regional forum up in Harden today. We took off at about 8:15am and got back home at 4:30pm. Half of the time had been spent on road. It was a warm day, we went passed several famous places in my working map, like Yass, Binalong, Murrumbateman and Galong. 2 years ago, I had never thought I could one day go to Young, Harden and Boroowa for a business trip instead of picking cherries. Now I see this was the charming part of this job, travelling in the region and getting to see what you thought you never get to see.
Then what did I get to see? Endless golden fields of crop (wheat) with bald dead lonely tree standing in the middle, pretty horses, chubby cows, timid sheep and pretty purple flowers. The view was just amazingly beautiful. Well, I guess the purple flowers looked so gorgeous that when my colleagues told me that they were actually weed, I couldn’t believe it. How come weed can be so beautiful? I would rather believing they are lavander seas grown by farmers for profit purpose.
What did I get to talk? I gave a small presentation talking about two programs that we are running in our centre. It was a very friendly group of people listening to me bullshitting and showing the interest in referring people to us in the future to get funds.
I was pleased, as the trip actually provided a short break for me from the office work and I don’t really mind travelling on road if it doesn’t become very often or some regular arrangement. We had soft served McDonald cone in Yass on the way home. Everyone spent first a couple of minutes licking silently then another two minutes munching loudly on waffle cones. That was the highlight of the day and really comforted my heart, even though the lovely and tasted sandwiches I had for lunch could have been the best, if we didn’t have cones after
