I was HUNTING something in my wardrobe this morning. My husband came to me and asked “is this already the time for you to wear a sacrf?”Wow, I was so surprised how well he knows me.

I am really a scarf person. When we were living in Sydney, the weather was just too warm to wear a scarf. Even with a very thin scarf, you would still look way too pretentious or ridiculous. The weather in Beijing was much more suitable for scarf fever people. Unfortunately it’s a windy place and you got everything blewn away off its place where it’s supposed to be :-)

I would say Canberra is ideal for a scarf person, though during the noon time of a coldest, a thick bulky wool scarf maybe seems too much for a cold neck, but Canberra is almost close to perfectness that you can start to wear a scarf from late of March till end of September. Almost 6 months long period of time allows you to wear whatever the variation of a scarf with a style.

I bought several cotton hand-tying-dyed scarves (a traditional way to dye fabric from one of minority group of China) in LiJiang in 2005 with really bright and vibrant colours. They are in rectangle shapes with fringes and the size is so huge that the scarves also can be worn as a shawl. I found most of tourists who had been to Lijiang would buy at least one scarf back home and it’s a place every female visitor wears a scarf on the street and goes to sit in a bar for drinks with her scarf on. Isn’t this strange?

I do not own a real Hermes silk scarf but my family, especially female members of my family, keeps a big collection of Hermes-liked pure silk scarf in their wardrobes.I picked the best one and took it here and keep it in my own wardrobe. It’s just so classic and there are so many way to wear it. Whatever you do with it, it always looks great.

I also found a single solid colour pashmina scarf always goes well with everything. It would be a good investment for autumn and winter accessories which can create quite a style on your look.
