I am so bad at crochet that sometimes I thought about giving up. I realised that it is probably not the basic skills of crochet that I couldn’t handle but using my eyes to tell the stitch. I found it often very difficult to get the right stitch number after one row of crochet, which makes me really frustrated.
However from time to time, I came across some really nice crochet patterns, like the one shows in the photo below. Every time when I see these things, I would made up my mind that one day I will manage to get it right. It is those beautiful creations created by a small crochet hook that give me the reason not giving up and keep trying, even I find crochet is just not something fits in my hands naturally as much as knitting.
Anyway, I have already had my 2009 knitting and crochet goals. I want to:
- Try to finish 3-4 decent knitting projects (cardi, sweater…) to clean out most of the yarn in my stash – sounds not too greedy?
- Do at least one big colour work(fair isle) project, as this is the knitting skill I haven’t tried so far. Thinking of a not-too-complicated Norwegian yoke vest or argyle pattern on a vest, cardigan or pullover?
- At least do a test on Entrelac skill. I have been always amazed by this sort of technique, but never managed to do anything.
- Learn tapestry crochet and work with cotton crochet thread or beads (if possible). I actually want to make some decorative tapestry crochet design myself, like a bowl or a basket or coasters? I want them to be colourful, exotically eye-impacting and looking unique.
