I was taking up some unfinished business from my previous colleague, who now is on maternity leave. So this morning I had to turn myself to a delivery woman to drive to a rural estate in Googong to deliver a computer pack, which included about 6 different sizes of boxes.

Driving from Queanbeyan to Googong would be fairly straightforward, which didn’t really worry me. The only thing I was anxious about was the property number which is made of with 4 digits. Oh my god, I was wondering, along that long long Old Cooma Road, and with travelling at 100kph, how am I supposed to see the tiny little numbers on the tiny little mailbox? Or how am I going to know where is the right place I need to slow down and make a proper turn into that property’s driveway? Even I knew that there will be about 15ks from the town, it’s still going to be pretty hard to determine.

The feeling actually got worse when I was driving off the town and seeing nothing on both sides of road apart from bushes, typical country style farm fence, funny shapes of sheds scattered on endless grassland and incoming trucks which almost was crossing the central dividing line and spred their wheels into my lane, as if a monster was trying to stretch their giants claws grabbing.

At that point of time, I really thought a lot about that little machine called GPS. I missed their indefatigable voice, “turn right in 300 meters….turn right in 100 meters…..turn right now….” I wished I had that one right in the car, and I promised I will never say “shut up” to her anymore :-)

I think I was really lucky. When I had the feeling that I was getting close to the place and trying to read the numbers on those mailboxes, I had a little red car hanging there behind me, which pushed me have to turn into a big driveway on the right. Guess what? When I was driving close to the mailbox, I found that it was exactly the property number that I was looking for. About another 200 meters long driveway, I finally got to the front door of my client’s house.

The dog came up, not barking, and then I saw the cat…then my client, the couple came out to open the gate. Thanks the god, I wondered who on the earth led me here?
