I wish I had made this a year ago. For some reason I felt that they were not so needed before, as I have a big mummy bag which came with a changing mat inside. Though I am not a big fan of any aspect of that changing mat, I have been using it from day 1. I also put a few nappies in a plastic bag in the same mummy bag, carrying them around to go everywhere.

I know it doesn’t make sense as Vivian is 20 months old and it is the time to get serious about getting her off the nappy now. However, I suddenly had this project idea and was all very motivated to make this….

Okay, the real reason is, the other day, I had V’s snacks and bottle left in the same compartment in the bag. The bottle leaked and the snacks broke into small crumbs. I was very mad about that ugly plastic bag which held nappies getting wet and sticky, even though I didn’t say a word to anyone.

I threw it away immediately and I was kind of hoping I had a cloth bag holding all the nappy related stuff in a relatively organised order, so I could have avoided this depressing accident.

So I had this idea. It took me two nights to finish the project. The first night was all about quilting this sandwich changing mat. I didn’t have a special feed on my sewing machine to do a free motion quilting and have never done this before at all, but I love the look of it, so I was all crazily brave about doing it just by a normal sewing machine without any experience.

Last night I did the bias tape binding, my favorite sewing part and made a little drawstring bag to hold mat, 3 nappies and a Huggies baby wipes travel pack.

The fabric was picked up from a Op shop two years ago under 1 dollar. Took me no time to cut fabric, about 4 hours sewing on machine, a lot of planning in the head about the idea that would serves the purpose. I eventually just made it as simple as possible.

So here they are. Over all, I really love the final look of my free motion circle quilting, even though I know there are a lot of mistakes and it could have been done much better. Hehe, just don’t look at any details:-)

Thanks the God, all my hard work was worth it. I feel much better now:-)
