Let me keep a record about how we spent the last several hours of 2005. It was a hot day. Yes, all I can say is “hot” before people invent some new words to describe the terribly hot weather in the summer. The sun just gave us the heat without mercy and the tempreture should be over 39 degree?

We tried to find a cool shuttle in Woden’s Shopping Mall to avoid staying in a heat-accumulated house and on the way back to home at around 2:00pm, we stopped by the Officeworks to buy a 2006 diary book for me. After we got out from the shop, guess what had happend? Our car broke down again!!! :( Frustratingly worst thing we could ever imagine in that moment.

Well, there was nothing we could do about it. We tried everything we knew by going back to shop again to let the car have a rest for a while; we bought two 1.5 litres water bottles to fill up the water tank; we pushed the car to a place that didn’t block the way; we even moved it and park it perfectly in the parking lot just right in front of a building which looked like there even had nothing ever happend although it was impossible for us to move it into a shade.

We could not stay in the car in such the hot weather, otherwise I suppose we would die of heat stroke in 5 minutes. So we had to find another cool place nearby the car to wait. The flies were really annoying and chased around us; the ants and spiders were all over under the trees or at the corners where we tried to find a shadow to stand. My arms which still suffered hives and sunburn made the situation worse to put up with. And this was the last day of 2005, something couldn’t happen just happened.

My husband suggested to walk a distance to have a look at some car yeards in Fyshwick. All right, it was better to do something than waiting here like two big fools. So we got moved, I mean in the sun and heat. We ran between each shades and stopped to have a rest in shady places. There was no one, no one walking on the roads except us which looked really rediculous. About in 10 minutes, we poped into the first car yard where was a Toyato car dealer, then the next one…… But it was really too hot to find a car. We had nothing achieved finally and decided to go to Bunings Warehouse, where my husband insisted to buy two camp chairs while I had no mood at all consuming anything and thought he must be crazy considering we have to carry these two chairs walking back to our car!!!

His crazy idea proved a life-saving tip. The car was still dead when we got back. Luckily we had these two chairs to have a seat under a big tree. As a result, we were sitting right beside the road facing the traffic which looked very very very unbelievable and funny. Most of people in the passing by cars couldn’t help looking at us two big freaks and guessing what’s going on with us. I assumed that they would ask “why these two Asian guys were sitting here on their camp chairs and looked so relaxing? This was absolutly a wrong place and wrong time to do such things.” Well, whatever, TMD I don’t care anymore. We just tried to find a way to survive and survive with the a little bit human dignity.

Anyway my husband rang the NRMA and the petrol guy came over to check the car at about 5:30pm when we have spent and been exposed in sun bath for 3 hours. At about 7:40pm the towing car finally arrived and got us back to home. It was 8:15 pm when we at last sat our asses on the crouch and felt extremely exhausted.

What a great experience to spend the last day of a year! When you have gone through all the pain, you get to know what you really want. My husband already had made up his mind about the new year’s resolution. He said his most urgent one was to get rid of that big monster that could make a hot day hotter or make the life looks so miserable; my one was to heal the hives and learn to take care of my body better.
