Last time we went to Telstra Tower up the top of Black Mountain, we nearly couldn’t make to get away from there. The immobilizer for the car security system automatically activated to shut down the engine a while after it stoped working, so when we came down from the tower’s lookout about 30 minutes later, we couldn’t start the car by deactivate the immobilizer due to the strong radiation from the Telstra Tower. We report to the office security. I believe we were not the only one they used to come across. A very experienced guy helped us to cover the front and rear windows with foil and pushed the car gliding down for until about 200 meters along the mountain road with the gear on the null position, could we get out the range of radiation impacts and start the car again. It was a bit worrying experience, didn’t upset us but left a shadow in our heart. We call Telstra Tower “Black Mountain Old Devil” which is a character of ghost from “Da Hua Xi You”, and frequently remind ourselves not going there again.

Today, in two years later, this problem no longer exists because the new car doesn’t have such kind of security system. We finally can enjoy a peaceful time when looking out from the top of Canberra. The sky was so clear and we can even see the Captain Cook’s boat making a big high water fountain like a semi-transparent flag. The tower was still the tower we saw last time. It was so windy. In a Donut Ring-shaped warm lounge room, we sat and had our Cappuccino in a sapphire-coloured cup and sauce pan. To be frank, I have never seen coffee served in such kind of colour’s cups, but apart from the funny colour of the kitchen ware, the taste was pretty decent.

The car was started again EASILY. We were thinking about washing off Telstra Tower’s bad reputation, and re-considering Old Devil‘s value. Certainly we would take account his today’s good performance :-)
