For a day trip to Sydney, we would have a fairly tight schedule, but the plan ended up being carried out quite okay. We didn’t try to do too much but picked a couple of places that only Sydney people could take the adventage to enjoy, like Ikea and Sydney Fish Market (I always regret for what the people, like us who live in Canberra, are missing out).
Though driving in Sydney is well-known stressful, especially in City area, my husband managed (out of his the No.7th sense) to get us travel between all sorts of numbers of Motorways. We had a big seafood meal in Sydney Fish Market, just as perfect as what I could have ever expected, heading off with a very full and satisfying stomach and some raw fresh seafood in our cooler.
Sydney Fish Market is just the place that I love to go the most, though it’s always crowded and kind of slippery on the ground (not so much tidy), and people in the market always shout loud, sound quite harsh to their customers, but the salty smell from the products displayed on their counters proves all the freshness, which make me happy
Pity we didn’t have company this year. I can still remember the other year around the same time when Fish Market have 36 hours trading time before the Xmas Day, how my husband and I, Jessy and Juni, four of us were chewing our seafood next to the water. It was truly wonderful.
Now Jessy is almost 39 weeks pregnant and going to be a new mom soon. We tried to find a bit time to visit her at home and fetched the stuff that her parents had brought for me from my mom and dad in China (stuff that mom bought for me to make my next OX year auspicious ). Then we did a bit Asian groceries shopping at Hurstville and had dinner before we headed back home at 7pm. I was so amazed to see so many Chinese people everywhere in Sydney, even much more than what we had seen 5 years ago when we lived here. The community looked just so convenient and vibrant, thought noisy, crowded and busy.
You know it’s a funny thing that everytime when I was over there in Sydney, I felt a sort of strong connection with this community and I could be quite “high”; but everytime when I get back to our little corner in Queanbeyan, I was soothed and cooled down, and I almost couldn’t remember what I had ever experienced during the day. I know it’s still that “little box” of my home, but I think my heart belongs here.
