Finally it is Christmas Day now! I had been meaning to try a few new Xmas recipes over this time, but lately I kind of didn’t have the motivation. Resting at home leads to less desire for the food. I lost appetite, also the passion. I am also marching on the path to go veggo. Sometimes I simply didn’t feel like to eat meat. I know this is gonna be the most ridiculous thing that would have ever had happened to me if one day I finally became one. I don’t know….I had never felt so sure about what I’d like or dislike.
Anyway, the dinner gotta be cooked, so I chose to make this stir fry spicy pork slices with wood ear, one of my personal and also kind of family’s favourite recipes. With a couple of bird eye chillies, a bit of ginger strips, shallots and chili bean sauce, the dish turned out as tasteful as it can get.
Pre-soaking wood ear and the right way to handle the pork slices before cooking are the most important things. There is nothing more like a disaster than overcooked pork in a Chinese stirfry. I would rather being a veggo than eating the chewy meat.
Our dinner turned out quite simple eventually, but I love the colours as much as I love the taste. The classic Xmas colours, red and green, don’t you see it?
~~MERRY CHRISTMAS~~
