Bing bing…… (Phone ringing)

“Hello?” “…I can’t be there today….I’ve got some allergy problem….I need to take a sick leave…..” This is the first time I rang sick since I started working here. Look, I’ve got paid sick leave up to 105 hours a year, I never used them. I am basically a healthy person :-)

Don’t worry! There was nothing serious going on and the situation is not a big deal at all. It’s just the dry lips were going through the recovering stage which cause me troubles. The sore lips feel burning, which annoys me and makes me feel so low. I wish I could chop them off :-)

I wouldn’t insist going to work to achieve anything in a slow way, or expect myself get over it by burying me in the work. I wanted to stay at home, having a restful day and letting the body going back to the normal. So I did it. I rang the office in the first 10 minute after the working hours started. Of course I got approved. In this country, it’s against the law if people are being put in work when they are feeling sick.

The whole day was great, except that I noticed that the time I had at home was much shorter than what I have when working at the office. I got the funny feelings that I can’t be a home Soho worker in an office for maybe whole 7 hours doing things mostly related to work, but only 3-4 hours sitting in front of my desk at home. So, at the end of the day, I only did a few things but none of them was important.

The only thing I feel worth mentioning is, for the second time (yesterday was the first time), I tried to make some Fa Gao (a kind of Chinese cake made of dry yeast and flour), which turned out a satisfying result, at least on appearance and touch. Ironically, the day I could have spend on cooking something nice was the day I couldn’t eat well. I am having difficulties opening up my mouth and enjoying food as I normally do :-)
