The thought of getting some indoor plants has been going for ages. We were dying to get some but didn’t find the right thing until we stopped by the Bunnings in Tuggeranong today. Tugger is just a little bit too far from where we live; otherwise we wouldn’t have had to wait for so long. Anyway, it’s spring time. There is nothing can make a decent excuse to not drive 30 minutes to get what we’ve been wanting. My husband wanted to get some ever-green plants on his desk, and I, desperately need some colours to be added to our home.

I admit that I found another big and exciting world when we actually entered the Bunnings’ Green House. I believe every one in the line waiting for the registry at least has taken one plant in their hands. It would look a bit odd if you don’t buy one at this stage. After a careful comparison and a long-time selection, I decided to go for Dragon’s Wing and Double Impatiens Salmon Ole, which both are great for potting, suit for indoor half-shaded places, and have their little flowers blooming at the moment. The Begonias Dragon’s Wings look like Hai Tang (in Chinese)that Mom used to grow them at home. It was a joy to watch them bloom with pretty little red flowers nearly all year around and the falling petals sparkling on the bench all over. So when I saw them in Bunnings, I almost made up my mind in seconds and went “Yes, that’s something I am going to take”.

This picture is from The Southern Living Magazine (which is copyright protected). It’s not the one I have. I should ask my Dad to take the actual photo of my Dragon’s Wing because I found it hard to shoot a one to my satisfaction. Anyway, I hope one day my flowers can grow like this.

Another one I took is Double Impatiens Ole which has a wide range of colours offered by Bunnings. I finally chose the salmon pink. It is close to orange but almost appears red. I love the shape of its flowers, so cute and little vintage and famine look. I couldn’t help imagining them growing eventually to a beautiful big bunch in a hanging basket in an English garden. To make an extension of my imagination, I took it home.

The picture is from The Gardens at UGA. My one is exactly like this, very beautiful.

My husband got Parlor Palm as he wished, which is good and very thriving on its life. But it’s just too dull for a lady :-

I haven’t finished yet. The most exciting thing is yet to be mentioned. It’s about the pots we picked for the plants. We bought 3 different pots. One is square black, the second one is white with black curve lines (very modern look) and third one is the best of the best…white with blue little flowers like Chinese chinaware (vintage look). We spent an hour to re-pot the plants after the dinner, making soil all over the hands and on the floor. But I felt I have never been so happy with being a “dirty” person.

It was a long day. We both were very tired after that. But we have our little rewards back. When we finally sat down and looked at these plants lightening the whole house, I say to myself, “Oh my God! I really love my flowers!!!!”
