Since we found out one of Dickson Chinese grocery shops has cheap but nice fish fillets for sale, our weekly menu has added a new course, pickled Cabbage Sayce Fish (Suan Cai Yu). To make a decent suan cai yu, I suggest you to have following things ready in your kitchen.

1) A big glass bowl: for the display purpose, you won’t feel regret if you buy one.
2) Baijia Pickled Cabbage Sauce (pack). We find it extremly good and satisfying.
3) Fish fillets: Ling Fish fillets or some fish tastes tender enough to fit this course. What we bought was $6.8/kg Basa fish fillets imported from Vietnam. The fish meat tastes tender right between river fish and ocean fish.

I don’t need to give you more instructions about how to make, everything is on the pack of Baijia sauce. To not to get sick of suan cai yu, my husband and I decided to only cook this once a week, usually during the weekend where the craving gets so obvious. To tell you the truth, I never failed a single time to make this course. Every time we have suan cai yu, we enjoyed so much that couldn’t put our chopsticks down.
