I am constantly looking for new ideas on DIY wall art, because when I see a blank wall, I get a bit anxious. My idea about a piece of good DIY wall art is innovative, unique, cheap, aesthetically beautiful and showing the effort of craftsmanship but not too hard to achieve. That’s why when I saw the Paper Quilt from A Little Hut, my heart totally voted for it and I knew I had to make it myself.
So here is what they look like. It took me 3 nights to finish them. This morning I temporarily stuck them on the wall to see how it looks. I think they are just as good as what I could have ever imagined. They are clean, crispy, safe above the bed (only the weight of a piece of stock card paper will not hurt anybody on the bed), and beautiful.
I used a white folder instead of white card stock paper, as it is slightly heavier. Of course I had to use my favourite craft knife to cut through all the lines. I did try with different coloured background paper, but I prefer them to remain just white. The coloured background would look good if it is to use as a box cover, but too busy on the wall. I think if I ever want to make any changes next time, I will be bold to design my own pattern, probably more free style looking.
I think it is the so far the best wall art I have ever created. I am really happy with the result. Now I just need to buy some 3M strips to stick them properly.
