Yeah….The falling flowers from the growing pagoda tree close to our fence are covering all over the pavement of our courtyard. It’s such a beautiful scene which reminds me a tragedy character Lin Mei Mei (Black Jade) from The Story of the Stone (The Dream of the Red Chamber). It would be perfect for her to bury these falling flowers then. I am gentle but not that weak and sensitive and unhealthy like her. I will let them be for a period of time just like now, and then I am going to collect them and throw them in a rubbish bin outside.

It’s extremely beautiful when wind blows. The flowers would dance freely in the air like snowflakes and it also gives a lovely sweet fragrance to your nose. It is the second year since we moved into this place. One of the nicest things to live here is to have pagoda trees just outside our kitchen window.

Also, it totally changed my experience with pagoda trees. When I was in the primary school, there was a big pagoda tree outside the school gate, which is a must-passing-by spot to get the way home. The terrible thing was not the tree, but thousands of green worms (we call it Diao Si Gui) hanging under that tree with completely transparent threads spitted from their mouths, and green dead bodies which looked like a green carpet on the ground. We had to step on them to pass through. Yucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still get trembles when I recall the scene happened 23 years ago. It was such a nightmare for a little girl to go through twice a day in the early summer time that finally left a horrible picture in my mind forever. So I can’t help linking the pagoda trees with those disgusting worms together in my life later on, and I at a time thought pagoda trees are good companions of those green yucky things. But it’s not true. I have never seen a single green worm under the pagoda tree that we have in our place, and I hope I would never see them again.
