Since the last post about this Origami Cardi, it has been more than one month. I haven’t been working very hard on that because I lost the drive after I have finished two front pieces and two sleeves. I was stuck in the border of the last piece, the back. 177 stitches for one row, I was not sure if I could ever finish that.

Also, increasing temprature marching to real summer weather makes my project more impractible to get worn before the heat wave starts to hit us very soon. My motivation had become very record low.

But yesterday, I picked up the needles again. I decided to challenge my comfort zone to get this thing done ASAP. It seemd that if I couldn’t get it done during this long weekend, I would never get it done forever. I need the feeling to assure myself that I am still capable of being in control. I NEED TO GET THIS DONE ANYWAY!

I did, this morning, after long hours knitting and another a couple hours seam sewing and finishing up. It looks a bit bigger than my size and the yarn I chose, which is quite drappy, actually worsens the effect even more. But in general, I am very happy. The colour is too bright for my age, but it’s wearable and has a very unique constructure of design.

I always admire Norah Gaughan’s talent on coming up with an interesting idea about how to play with pieces. The whole cardi is exactly like the name suggested, a smart concept inspired by Art of Japanese paper folding. I especially recommond this pattern to women who are tall, with long hair and average weight, as the front pieces, left open, will move gracefully when walking, while clipped by a chopstick or big decorating pin, will generate some orential touch into your whole look. And, it’s a delight to knit, even though you need to master a couple of essential tequniques. However the final result makes your hard work much rewarding than you had thought.

You know what? Today is pretty chill, cloudy and seems going to rain. Perfect timing, isn’t it?
