I tried my best to get a cheque done this morning so that one of our care planners can take it physically to KMART to pay for a wash machine for one of our clients. This client’s has been doing the hand washing for 4 kids (two of them are disabilities) for 5 weeks since the old wash machine died. We can’t think of anything but help her out with a brand new and trouble free wash machine, so we did it, and urged KMART to deliver the good ASAP. Hopefully the client will get it on this Tuesday.
On the later time afterwards, I had a conversation with the care planner who was the one arranged all this. She commented that “I feel that I really love my job because I can really do something to help people out when they are in great needs.” I totally understand what she is talking about. It’s about being a helper and why this job is so rewarding in a certain way. Our clients normally have never thought that they could get help like this, so after seeing what they could actually been given by this world, they usually are full of surprises, feelings of being lucky, big relief in their lives, gratitude, and showing the big appreciation to us. It’s also a moment for us to be very proud of what we did and happy with seeing the results turn out in the way that is supposed to be.
Being a part of this helping loop, I am in a position to actually pay bills or transfer the money to service providers, which is to spend money on clients, not earn money from them. You got the feelings that every cent you pay is worth spending and has been used on a fair matter instead of being wasted. Hence, there is no need to push people to pay for the money they owe us, making myself like a money-hunger freak who always thinks about how much I can take out from their pockets. Yes, the role has been featured with generosity and kindness, which is big rewarding.
