National Gallery of Australia is absolutely a cosy nest for the people who try to seek the tranquillity for their hearts and minds. Even with 30 degrees’ temperature outside the gallery, I found it still so cool to sit in front of one of Monet’s barn house paintings and feeling so calm. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is a real thing by Monet? And we have Monet’s works in Canberra? Actually there are two??!!!

It’s even more interesting to know that lots of Australian artists actually went to France and when they came back, they painted like real impressionism artists, except one thing, in my opinion, Australian’s impressionism is too green :-) which is not all bad, I would say, as I found it very delightful to look.

So are other works in NGA, even those ones seem a bit aggressive, angry or violent. Emotions affect the way how artists paint and the paintings affect the audiences’ emotions. It’s a two-way road where we perceive and to be perceived.

Well, walking in this place, this sort of perception seems extremely evident. For me, standing in whatever a distance to fit my eyes to obeserve human being’s artistic creations, was something that forceful enough to trigger one’s emotional feelings. It’s more like a tour to acknowledge your mental experience from what you see and what you feel right at the moment. You can’t help wondering, why in a huge and empty room like this, with only four walls, a couple of lounges and some paintings, you can actually see more than what you would normally see in the crowd?
