I have been working on my knitting cushion cover for the whole afternoon and the evening. The original idea to make a striped one has been cancelled. I got the new inspiration from one of the knitting pattern websites which suggests making a four-colour-joined piece for each side of cushion and making it like a big patch work. I finally got it done by 10:30 pm. Since the colours I chose, I have named my finished cushion as “Flaming Tuscan”, referring the beautiful Tuscan field scenes in my mind.
I have quickly taken some photos in the early morning of the next day which are not perfectly telling all the details but can roughly reflect the thing I made. The cost for the whole project is as follows:
- 4 balls of Flurry yarns (Vera Moda) with different colours; $0.79 for each ball x 4 balls= $3.16; You can get it from Spotlight which the cheapest feather yarns I have found in the market;
- A cushion insert, size 40cm x 40 cm = $ 2.89, from The Warehouse;
- One pair of 5 mm knitting needles $1.00 to $2.00; The price depends on where you buy them; Try Go-Lo or other discount two dollar shops;
That was it. The total amount should be around 7-8 bucks. It’s impossible to get a cushion with this price anywhere. Or probably you can, if you spend ages looking around, but you won’t have this kind of fun from knitting one yourself…. Oh yeah…that’s the main thing I have been trying to convey
