I finally finished the Le’ Slouch, a slouchy beret that I had been dreaming all these days and nights. Before I started the project, I have already googled it and seen so many different beautiful versions done by other great knitters. I had wondered how much I would do better than them and how I could work out my own way to turn this pretty pattern into something that belongs to my head.
I ended up picking this sort of yarn from my stash with multi colours flowing from one to another. I call it “watercolour”. The final result had proved that my choice was not bad. The beret looks interesting and eye-catching yet not too striking. The yarn is a bit thinner than it is required from the original pattern, but with the same 5.5mm DPNs, it looks a bit of loose so it reinforce the effect of being slouchy. I also widened the 1×1 rib band, knitting it to about 5cm.
It’s a great pattern, easy to knit and fun to wear. It was a very pleasant course to visually see it happening. I think that every lady should get one of them for their head….but with different types of yarn and colours
I am pretty sure this Le’Slouch will go well with most of my Autumn coats. However the way to wear it seems more important than knitting it. I found it wearing it a little bit backwards to make sure that ribs do not cover the forehead is the way to go. What’s your opinion?
