I have two skeins of yarn. Both were left-overs. One skein’s colour was extremely boring, while another was extremely bright. I had never thought that one day I could use them up as it seemed nowhere I can fit them in.

Then I saw Emma King’s Fun & Funky Knitting. All projects are small but give chances to knitters to experiment with colours and yarns to create eye-catching designs. I was attracted by one of projects called “ZEST” which is a simple Fair Isle wrist band but looks very funky. I thought it would be a good starting point for a novice like me who have never tried Fair Isle knitting before.

I guess I made the right choice. The project had been finished within one hour. Plus a bit of lining and sewing the button, I got my husband wearing it before the dinner time.

Dark charcoal grey and bright orange go very well in this project and I was amazed by the fact that I made my first colour work myself and I even like my colour coordination better than what’s in the book.

I will definitely make another one, but maybe not quite the same wrist band. I am thinking a mobile phone holder :-)
