This week is pretty relaxing. Monday and Tuesday were quiet, and today I went to a one-day’s induction program held by the Council for the new employees. Council is really good at this and well organized with what they do for us new. It was an awesome experience to get an overall view of the whole Queanbeyan City and it even kind of helped me to reassure my good feelings of being employed by the Council. We spent most of time listening to people from different sectors talking about some important things that we are supposed to know or interested. It was very useful and quite informative. I had at least 4 cups of black tea, 4 taffies and 2 minties for the whole day. Of course there was a BBQ lunch that everyone wouldn’t want to miss out. Several Councilors came in and joined us with lunch meal. I had a big meat pie, a sausage and a hell lot of vegs. It was raining, not a good day for the Barbe but I enjoyed watching our HR manager wearing his suit and tie, working on the grill with a funny printed fabric apron. Council’s HR people are awesome. We’ve lovely Maree accompanying us most of time. She is so cheerful and funny, acting between a nice lady mom and a naughty little girl. Plus, her eyes can talk. I don’t know where she gets all this energy and how she finds the life so worth celebrating. I like her, absolutely, actually from the first time talking to her on the phone. I had a feeling that she is big like someone (a good model) I have been looking for in the reality and really getting jealous with
What impressed me the most was one hour’s bus tour. We’ve been several places the Council is running. I got the pricing list from the swimming pool. I also saw up the mountain how the yellow yukky sewerage water turn to clean, crystal clear and drinkable liquor. The guy handed each of us a sheet about how the system works before we got on the board again, by asking us “do you want to know what happenes after you flush the toilet? ” I was curious about that kind of stuff, so the material was really helpful. We’ve also been to the waste ministration place but didn’t get off the bus. Taking the Lanyon Drive, we arrived the Queanbeyan Cemetary where I find a new way to bury people, bushland. I love the idea of getting back to the natural and be a part of the bushland. The ash returns to the earth, nothing of the death becomes a burden for the lives. It’s a good conception. I also was touched by the Hours of Operation written on the big stone in the cemetary. It is “From Sunrise to Sunset”. Isn’t this a circle of one’s life? On the way back, we passed the Jerra’s office and saw the oldest house in that place. It’s still well maintained. Jerra has a gym with only $27 per fortnight pass fee which is good. But most importantly, I have once again confirmed my first impression about Jerra’s houses that I accidentially obtained from the experience of getting lost after I got back from Karaba’s Post Office two years ago. I do love Jerra’s houses. They are really beautiful, modern and meet the needs of a house lover’s day dream
I guess that was it. A lovely day and really unforgettable. Oh, another thing is, I had Sue as a company who’s from the same place where I come from. I suppose it made the Induction day much easier than it would have been if I were all by my own. Tomorrow would be my last working day before the end of this week because this Friday will be my first Roaster Day Off. I am gonna stay at home but still get paid. Wow, what a week! I sort of start to get a taste of honey from working for a local government
