From what I recently have learned from the Chinese book “Nutrition Revolution”, I found that actually I like the idea of “low sugar and low-carb” very much. It sounds not hard at all for me to follow a diet plan like that.

First, I like savory food much more than sweet food. Take an example, assume that I am very hungry and I’ve only got dessert and biscuits in front of me, I wouldn’t touch them at all (unless I know I won’t get any other food in the next 24 hours:-). I would rather eating nothing and leaving myself being starving than having biscuits. I don’t know why, but sweet things really don’t appeal me at all, which also included soft drinks with added sugar. Just don’t like them!

Second, I love eggs and meat. When the whole world was trying to reduce the intake of fat as the only way to loss the weight, I was very depressed. I felt that meat is not only something that satisfies my taste buds, but also something that satisfies my body and my mind. My body calls for it and needs it, I feel much better if I can have a bit of meat for each meal. Meat makes me happy and more sustainable for a long hard day, while eating less fat drives me crazy.

However, my appetite towards meat has dropped dramatically in the past a couple years, partly caused by my age and also from what it’s been advocated out there. But now, I am sort of in the mood to regain the power to re-try it, probably by trying new recipes and less processing. As for eggs, I would never feel fed up. My husband gave me a nickname “Egg Cheng” which sounds very gross to call a lady like that. But I ignored it. I told him that if there is no meat available anymore in this world, I will be okay to accept it as long as I have eggs to eat :-)

Third, I love Tofu and soy beans. Most western people hate the smell of soy milk. I didn’t see there is any odd smell about it. I just love it. And tofu is something I would kill to have everyday. If you have a cooking book telling 300 different ways to cook Tofu, I tell you, I will buy it.

The last, I love roughly processed stripe food. I don’t mind the smell of whole grain or whole meal production, and I love all sort of beans, different types of rices and flour.

But, I do need to drink more water, use less salad cooking oil but more that is extracted from natural plants, like olive oil and full veggie oil, eat more fishes and start to not against peanuts that much :-)
