I never got to see my 4 grandparents of both my mom’s side and my dad’s side. They passed away before I was born. It’s a pity that the younger generation is not able to meet the older generation, isn’t it? If they did, they might have learned a lot from each other. Anyway, I am not here to talk about this. I am actually posting here is to argue that why people would always believe that knitting is something that their grandmothers are supposed to do.

If you look at that from a certain perspective, it might be true. I remember that when I was young, my Mom always was knitting something, on her bus to the work or after the dinner on the couch while watching programs from TV. She spent most of her time for this family and her kids, and she made the best of her time to do what she had to do. Even she had been so busy, she still learned a lot of stuff herself, like sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking different things. She never gives up trying something new just because that “something” is actually available for sell in the market. Money is not her issue at all. Neither is the time. Who can say the younger generation is much busier than the older generation? If he said so, he was actually making fool of himself, as time is something that everyone wants it so badly, no matter in the past or in the present.

I guess it was all about attitude and interest. Do you have the attitude to devote yourself on concentrating on something while leaving other things out there? Do you have the interest in spending time and your hard work on DIY things that you can buy from the market? Well, you maybe have time to do something else, like browsing the internet, purchasing items from the shopping mall and talking to people on mobile for whole night. It’s all passive movement. You actually choose to accept the thing what’s available out there. Well, to accept is not even close to making a choice. The life actually offers more, but you only see some of them.

I really don’t like those people who come to pick on me by saying that “knitting is her/her grandmother does”. I am not angry at that, it’s just by putting this way, it seems like they are slightly better and a little bit more ahead of us, which makes them look very stupid. To me, the person who has this sort of thought just someone lives their lazy life and doesn’t have a brain to enjoy it. If you have different ways to enjoy the life, that’s okay. But it doesn’t mean your way is cooler than others’.

Did I ever mention about male knitting? I guess people with “grandma knitting” would be freaking out and say “they are probably gays”. When I first saw man’s knitting work, I was almost shocked. But now I get to see the whole idea about what they do. Knitting, actually IS FOR EVERYBODY.
