Lunch time I went to Library to pick up Chronicle. For some reason, after that I didn’t want to take my direction back to the office, but kept walking ahead to Rutledge Street. Then I was attracted by the physio-therapist’s green and blue house at the corner which led me to make a left turn. Then I saw the Gypsy Manor.
The house is absolutely a heritage. Or in another word, too old. There was no one in the garden, but the trees against the fence are blooming with red flowers. Lots of aluminum round rings hanging under the roofs and porch, I didn’t know what they are called but got a feeling that they are probably important symbols of Gypsy spirit.

A lady walked out to answer the door bell. She was in green knit wear, at her late 20s, long hair, looks very comfortable with where she was. I greeted her and walked in. I was surprised to see that all the stuff was displayed on the both sides of hall way which leads to the main living room. The hall way was quite dark, and the colour of display shelves were even darker, but the smell from the burning incenses was just irresistible. There were lots of jewelery, paintings, books, home décor like cushions, lanterns, handmade soaps, candles and other accessories.

The whole house was immersed in a kind of mystery atmosphere, which I am not sure a natural result of this setting or just my imagination, as I found that all the stuff was actually somehow associated with spiritual things, like Tarot, Psychic readings, some healing forms like Reiki, crystal healing and flower remedies. My request of taking a photo was knocked back, but I had a long conversation with this lady Junita. She seems very switched-on and passionate about what she does, but quite struggling with the limited space.

My mind was wide open after the visit. I had no doubt that people in this world could live in thousands and thousands of different ways, but never realised that “that different way” can be just around the corner. I suddenly feel that people actually are always looking for a spiritual home in their hearts; no matter they are physically nomadic or just mentally looking for their missing pieces in this world. At the end of the day, people want to gather up, find a resting place and get settled in a way. Then probably it starts to make sense about how different forms of therapies in this world fit in people’s needs, and if any bit of that therapy works for them, it would be worth existing.
