We went to see my husband’s specialist today and the blood test he had done, which was in early September and one month after he stopped Wafarin, had returned and showed that his Protein C level (19%) is still much lower than normal (60-130% ).

Okay, what does it mean? It means my husband hasn’t got enough level of a major physiological anticoagulant in his body. He has much higher risk to have blood clot than people who has normal range of Protein C.

We might come back from the hospital and forget all about this and live in our normal life, but the risk exists there and it needs extra care to be taken to watch over his health, yet if something bad really happened, nobody can guarantee you that extra care would help as the severe one won’t take long to kill one. However, life goes on and who can really stop everything to just observe their bodies?

Well, it sounds quite harsh to say, but we all know the bottom line, not only the one for my husband, but also for all of us….we are all going to die, sooner or later. But there is no reason to not try your best to live only because you know that one day you will be gone. The only difference is some people think about death while some don’t or never did.

That’s why 9 months after my husband’s PE episode, we actually felt quite relieved. The doctor suggested my husband to take another Protein C test today to double check, so he did. But by the time when test result is revealed, I don’t see there would be any difference if we know it’s still abnormal or becomes normal. Either way it will not change the history and won’t solve the mystery.

I think we kind of have lost the interest to explore “why”. 85% percent of PE remains no particular reasons to be identified. And, Protein C deficiency is a very rare genetic disorder, are you gonna blame your parents while they actually had no idea which gene they was going to give to you when they created you. See? I told you everything is MYSTERY, and we’d better keep it and embrace it :-)
