Our Dru Yoga teacher finally got to show us one of my favourite but also the commonest poses, namely downward facing dog. Even though this pose is really not hard, I still have to say, it’s probably the hardest one so far she has showed us
When I practised yoga every Saturday morning, the video I used actually requires this pose a lot, almost all the time. I really enjoy the big stretch that I feel through the legs and part of my spine, as well as the feeling of dropping my shoulders, upper back and head downward to make the body forming a triangle shape. It’s not hard to get it right, but people often lift their heels off the ground without being aware of it, which certainly helps to reduce the level of difficulty. Another common error is while people are doing this pose, their arms and shoulders are not in alignment with their backs. Let me tell you that it really doesn’t look very nice
Another pose I love very much is a back-bending pose called “Camel”. When bending backwards and dropping the head, the chest should be parallel to the ground. The ideal shape would be forming a sealed rectangle with your chest, arms, body and legs. Believe it or not, it’s a kind of pose that you can’t ignore your awareness about your body. And the funniest thing is you feel so good to have a bit of tension but also feeling so relaxed.
