The polling place that we had been and voted in Queanbeyan this afternoon
We have witnessed the history, the history that our votes count, the history that the government can be changed overnight, and the history that the people’s call matters. I have to admit that this has been the best political experience in my life as I deeply was amazed by the fact that what we have done actually affects what we have wanted, and what we have wanted was not determined by the minority of the people, but everyone of them in this nation. People get to say and express what they want, and as a result, people gained what they have wanted. Most importantly, they gained what they have wanted in a LEGAL way.
So in the course of watching the votes being counted on the TV last night, I couldn’t help thinking of at least one of benefits of democratic politics. People have to have their opportunities to say, to question, to choose and to decide. Such opportunities, force the government having to always seek the best for the country and for their people.
In other words, in some countries, if people had such opportunities, why would they have stood up to protest or done other crazy things to against the government? If people have ever had a proper way like what’s happening here to express what they wanted, how much blood and tears could have been saved in the past? Difference between there and here, is all about this. It’s not a difference between the heights of the highest buildings in their capital cities, it’s not about difference between how much the richest people in their countries can earn, it’s all about who decides their path to the future and how they use their right to determine their future.
I was glad for Kevin Rudd as he is a prime minister that I voted. I was totally disgusted by John Howard. The history proved that he is not only a big lier but also a stupid and selfish man. His arrogance and greedy towards the power eventually not only ruined himself, but also ruined liberal party and his colleague Peter Castello, whom I feel very sorry for, as he is the biggest victim of John Howard’s political game.
