I had a full on Sunday and had been busy since early this morning. We went to the Dragon Abreast Regatta by the lake but I took a break off there over the National Gallery in the middle. We also watched the debate between Mr. Howard and Mr. Rudd on the TV tonight, and I made a not very successful banana cake in the late of this afternoon. So I don’t know where I should start and where I should make a conclusion for the day.
But from this morning’s experience, I have 3 findings:
a. Aussies are really big into sports and social bonding up. They can sacrifice their Sunday morning sleep-ins to come along hitting the waters or simply walking around the lake. They love sun, while I found it unbearable. That’s why I was off to National Gallery. It was just so nice to get away from the crowd and sitting there facing only one painting that I really love.
b. Aussies love dogs. The regatta turned out not only a dragon boat race, but a big celebration of women’s life and a gathering up of the most beautiful dog breeds. The dogs came along with their masters met each other, barked to each other as their greeting ways. They are so blessed to be able to live in this country and enjoy the sunshine like this.
c. Aussie people love fun and they are full of sense of humour. I see ladies and gents aged from early 20s to late of 60s dressed in pirate eye mask, pink head scarf and wearing a big fake knife at the back; I see them in pink shimmery lace skirt, cowboy pink hat, wearing pink face paint and nana’s curly pink wig; I see them dancing in the music of live band’s Latin music like 7 years old kids. It was just so much fun to get to know them call themselves Bridget Booboos or other funny names, or see them paddling in the water or cheering on the bank. There is one thing that I am pretty sure I am right about is the T shirt I chose to wear today. It is pink…hah:-)
As for the fun side, I found Mr. Rudd a person just like that as well. He accidentally called Mr. Howard as Mr. Coward in tonight’s debate. It seems like an unintentional mistake, but I doubted very much if he meant by that
If it did happen, I thought that was actually a good one. Our PM wasn’t performing well enough in front of his “Australian fellows”, and that actually helped to reinforce the feelings that if we did go for Mr. Rudd this time, we will at least have a chance to try something different.
