Since I saw a painting recently published on Real Living magazine, I had been struggling with a very bold idea of making it myself. My goal is to paint on a at least 120cm x 120cm square canvas as a final creation. But before I can finally feel confident enough to do that, I have to prepare myself well so I won’t ruin the whole thing.

I think firstly I need to find the appreciate shades for those red dots, and then I have to know how to arrange those numerous dots in a systematic yet random-looking way on canvas. Trust me, it is not as easy as it looks like.

I have tried it on my computer with Photoshop last night (as above photo) and found that dot painting (or this sort of abstract painting) can be easily prone to get very messy if there is no big picture in your mind about what you really want the final thing look like or what you want to express. And to get the whole painting balanced, there are just too many things I need to consider carefully.

I don’t know how long this BIG project is going to take, one month or two? But I definitely know that I need to do a sample on a small canvas before I go for the bigger one. I hope I will get to there. It could be something that would look really nice for a featured navy-ish dark wall at your home.
