This is another version of my previously mentioned knitted cushion cover. Since I got the left-over yarn, so I thought it would be great to make it a pair with the similar style but slightly different design. The new one is a little bit more complex. Each side has 16 pieces joined together. The secret is all about how you choose the matching (or trendy) colours and how you arrange them together. To achieve the satisfying effect, you have to understand the principle of colour matching. I still used the four colours I mentioned last time. I reckon four is enough and just right. Otherwise it would be too hard to handle. No profound knitting knowledge is needed for this project, but at least you should know how to do cast-on, cast off, stocking stitch and flat seam sewing.

A very important tip I learned from my work: Use only different-coloured yarns under the same brand and same variety. I used 3 different brands yarn which caused a crisis on tension required. For example, for a 10cm over square, 8 ply yarn is 17stitchs X 24 Rows, Flurry yarn is 16 stitches X 22 rows, while feather yarn from Go-Lo is only 14-15 stitches X 21 rows. It sounds only a subtle difference, but when you join them together, it gives you a huge problem to make them all look good in the original shape of square. This cushion cover is all about looking neat and tidy. Rough hand work can give you nothing but only ruin the project and the final effect. I am not quite happy with the one I made, but I did a bit stretching and shaping to make up for my mistake.

Anyway, here is the knitting pattern of this cushion cover I can contribute if you want to kill your time in this summer. If you need a detailed pattern, you have to email me to get it.

Material:
4 balls of feature yarn (or Flurry yarn or Bao yarn) with 1 ball (50g) for each colour for your choice; one pair of 5mm needle; Wool needle and plain yarn to sew up the seams.

Methods:
There are two options for you to make the same thing: make 32 pieces of 10 cm over squares with 8 pieces for each colour, or you can make 8 pieces of 10X40 cm rectangle with each pieces has 4 different colours (and measured 10cmX10cm). The former one need more sewing-up work at the end but will make the cushion tidier; the later one is the one I did, which requires precisely same number of rows for each colour you knit on every 10X40cm piece.

Pattern:
Stocking stitch for every piece, which means one row knit and one row purl.

Finishing:
Arrange the different colours of pieces in the way you like, and sew all the ends (don’t forget to insert the cushion before you sew up the last end ^-^). I have a rough drawing about the colour arrangement I made for all two cushions. It might help. Anyway, this is giving the warm tone. You can try the cool shade of colour, like green, blue, white or lilac. Happy Knitting:-)
