Most of my chilies are red now. I haven’t got time to pick them yet but yes, I think I am very happy.
It will be another month before I will finally pull the plants out of the pots. I don’t want to leave them there or take them indoor for overwintering, as I am kind of hoping to make a better start for the next year. They will not die if I don’t kill them, but they will not look any better or produce any more fruit in the upcoming cold days for months.
Recently the nights are getting cooler here, sometimes only 10 degrees. Thai chilies like hot and humidity, so I reckon with the first frost coming on the way, they will struggle a bit outside in the pots.
I have decided to start sowing next year around September, not to wait until October like last year. And I want to do more, probably starting about 20 if that’s possible.
Having them in containers can be a big problem for me because A, I don’t have enough pots; B, it’s hard to manage them in pots. However I don’t see myself in the position prepared to do anything in a real garden. I feel that I can just manage whatever I have so far, planting them outside directly in the soil would be a bit too much.
People always say “no pain, no gain”, I totally agree. However I also say, sometimes you have to learn to “sit back & watch”. Too much expectation makes you certainly motivated but sometimes easily leads you to a mental devastation.

Don’t pull your plants out! Chillies are very hardy and will survive throughout the winter – mine are still flowering and producing heaps of fruit
