It was the time to drive down to Batemans Bay to do my bit of job at CF. To be honest, I was glad that I didn’t have to be there earlier to see the most intense moment and solving the problems. The only thing got me a bit worried was that I had to go down with one of girls in the office. It is well known that she hasn’t been a perfect driver and I already had someone winked to me and wished me “good luck” before I took off. Well, I did see that she pressed the brake suddenly for no “obvious” reasons and the whole driving was not as smooth as what you would expect from a person who has 30 years driving experience. But why should I get worried? I was getting a lift, sitting there doing nothing. Nothing really gives me the right to justify whether she is a good driver or not.
Anyway we arrived at about 7pm, perfect timing for the dinner. Those two ladies that I organised for Yoga and Storytelling sessions were already there. I ended up sitting at another table with two not-hungry vegetarians who have been practised eating no meat for 16 years. Well, I was thirsty and looking forward some food after a two-hours trip on winding mountain roads with a “road killer driver”. Can you imagine how hard this was?
Lucky that they were both nice, though they were totally different types. The storytelling lady was extremely bubbling and full of energy. I was truly amazed, “how people could be this vibrany?” She sang along when weywere in the quere for getting the food and she seemed in love with her job so much. Even knowing she was a performer in her previous life, I was still surprised to see how she handled every second in her life.
It’s a bit risky that I decided to add this storytelling program into CF as I am totally not a story person. When I was young in primary school, I remember there was a A5 little magazine called “”Gu Shi Hui” (Storytelling Meeting) been quite popular in my peer classmates.
Unfortunately I had never fallen for them. I just don’t know why. Almost 25 years later, when I thought about being here listening to someone telling her internationally collected stories in ENGLISH, it kind of felt a bit weird. But when I was sitting there, listening to the sound of ocean waves that was created by little rocks moving inside the drum and the ancient Chinese Valentine’s Day story of the night of sevens (Qi Xi) in ENGLISH, I felt that my heart got gently rubbed. It was soothing and relaxing.
I got back to cabin at about 10:30pm. I quickly had my shower, sat in veranda and chatted with my colleagues for about half an hour, then did 12 rows of knitting in my bedroom. The Coachhouse Resort seemed very quiet. It has been a long day. I probably would see the the perfect sky woven by Zhinv (that Chinese weaving lady) in my dream. Sweet dreams:~)
