People in the office bought me a cake this afternoon to thank me for all what I did. I don’t quite know why what I did was so appreciated, what I know is I have been extremely busy since the morning. One of my supervisors needed me to urgently assist her to send out some important agreement. She was quite anxious as also felt the pressure from her bigger boss.

I told her we can handle it and finish the work by 10:30am. Probably because I sounded so calm, she felt a big relief. Then I re-set the documents, did the mail merge, organised the information….at 10:15am, I’ve got everything done. My supervisor certainly was impressed. She made a comment on me to everybody else in the office “this girl is so organised, and guess what, she never panic…’ Of course, I don’t panic. According to Jacky Chan in Rush Hour I, Chinese never panic. We have a capacity to overcome the difficulties and normally we are smart and diligent. I am just happy to make that point clear as a fact towards ordinary Chinese, not just towards an individuality of myself.

At about 1:30pm, one of my colleagues came in and asked me to come over to the front office to share the cake. I said I am too busy to go. She insisted, so I went…then I got surprised. It was lovely indeed, warm, nice and great thanksfulness, respect and recognition from people who I support and who support me as well.

They didn’t want me to wash up the plates after we finished the cake. It was sweet :-)
