We took Mimi to the vet this morning to do the health check, worm, vaccination and microchip. My husband and I laughed about that Mimi has his own doctor, while we, human being, never had our own family doctor in the past 5 years.
For the whole time being in Australia, I only had been to a doctor twice. During the time in Sydney, I had never been to any doctor, while my husband was there twice to treat his nose and hair; My first time to see a doctor was in November 2004, when I had a severe allergy attack around my mouth and the face. I was desperate to get rid of that, and except seeing a doctor, I couldn’t see anything else would help. The second time of mine was before I got this job. Council required the applicant to go through a medical examination via a designated doctor before the formal appointment. I went, not under any medical conditions, and the cost was all on Council’s. It was a bit embarrassing every time when people ask me what’s my doctor’s name. I couldn’t answer. So every time I just smiled back and said I am too strong to have a doctor.
But now, Mimi has his own doctor, Dr. Brett, who has two Bachelors in Vet and also a PhD. Mimi got his teeth so tight when doc tried to open his mouth. It was said he probably was not used to the drive or riding a car. He didn’t cry on the way to the vet but meowed all way back home.
Doctor gave him the first injection of vaccination, and planted a microchip at the back of his neck. He didn’t even cry. The doc and the nurse praised him as a brave boy. But he did look unsettled and a bit hurt of feelings after that horrible bullet sized microchip planted. His eyes were full of innocence and a bit sadness. He is a sweet boy. He likes to have attention from people and get closed to people, but if you leave him aside, he never annoys you by crying or screaming or making a mess somewhere else. He would wait for you outside the bedroom door quietly. Sometimes, it can be one or two hours.
Anyway, his mood got better after he landed his feet back on our house’s floor. He was happy again after half an hour’s healing session by playing with us and chasing his own tail in the sun. The wetness and the smell of antiseptic liquid has gone. He looked had forgotten what he had been through and started to eat. The doctor said it’s the time to switch the food from wet to dry. We probably will check Petbarn shop in Fyshwick sometime over this weekend.
