My sister asked me if I am knitting anything at the moment. I felt a little bit embarrassed :-) as I have not yet finished the another half of the pair of cotton socks. I was held up by various of things since the first half done. I know it doesn’t sound like a good excuse. Anyway, after that phone call of my sister, I decided to speed up. So at about 11:15pm, I got the another half done, and quickly took some photos before I went to the bed.

The night was getting a bit chill. I still felt that I was not quite ready for the autumn. The temperature dropped down to 8 degrees last night, which was fairly dramatic, just like Canberra’s distinctive four seasons. But a pair of cotton socks were just perfect for the changing of weather. So I put them on….em…….nice and warm:-)

The thin cotton thread, I reckon, is good for doing lace crochet, like old fashioned home lacy decoration, e.g. lower window curtain, dinner table’s placemat, coasters or couch’s armrest decorating clothes, but would be a bit challenging to knitter’s skill if to be used with some basic stocking stitch pattern in common knitting project, as the yarn is too thin and not fuzzy enough to hide the uneven knitting texture made by human’s hands. I don’t think I managed well as to eliminating this kind of problem. Another problem is the socks are a bit loose and not soft enough , even I exactly followed the gauge requirement written in the instruction. I guess it is still because of the yarn I chose.

The good news: they are wearable indeed, and I enjoyed the complete journey of making a pair of cotton socks, especially the part of not much finishing work required. I don’t really like sewing seams :-) I am too lazy, am I?
