She made her move from the kitchen to the bedroom. She knew that it was going to be the last stop before she took off for work. She opened her wardrobe and stood there looking what’s got in there. She saw nothing.
The wardrobe was as tidy as it can get. It’s all because she was an organised lady, always folding up her clothes properly and putting them in the right order by sorting them with different piles. She loved doing that, and it made her feel comfortable when making the choice.
Talking about making the choice, she doubted. There was a bitter side about this. The God knows if she was really comfortable with that or not. If she was, how would she have been standing here seeing nothing? This wardrobe was full of different sort of fabrics, materials, colours and styles, but she wondered if there was any of them would suit her mood at the moment.
It was a Thursday morning, right before Easter Friday. Despite she was already quite in a holiday mood, she still wanted something casual yet formal to cope the day, which she reckoned going to be quite big.
She pulled up a pink shirt with stripes on it, then she pulled her face down “No, the collar is not right….”; Then the black top, “no, too boring…” and she had been wearing the black for half of this week; orange knit turtle neck, too tight; pink wrap top? too bright…; dark blue blouse? Not matching the black pants; Oh, black pants…maybe she could make it a skirt, but which skirt? Chocolate? green or the one with fringe? Looks it getting more complicated; Aha, she saw something she hadn’t had worn for the whole summer, she loved that one, but…no…not for today; what about light beige? She tried that one on, then looked at herself in the mirror. She frown her eyebrows. She murmured to herself “it’s too big. Gives you nothing but a harsh middle aged woman’s look…”
As she kept going like this, she became really unhappy and tried of this kind of game. It had been 10 minutes gone. On the bed, there were 8 had being thrown out. She still had no idea what’s going to wear today. She started to feel frantic and angry. What was all this about? Repeatedly tortures her in every morning. She had no time for this stupid game. All she wanted was a decent outfit. Was that too much to ask for a lady?
With all the rush she had to deal with now, she finally dragged her black pants out and put on her most featureless shirt. This outfit was a kind of universal back-up plan for all sorts of occasions. But she hated it, not to death, but the least as much as she did towards uniform or stuff like that. And she knew, all of these scenarios would come up again tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and the day after the day after tomorrow…..looked it would never end………….
