You probably thought that I had given up knitting, did you?……since it’s been such a long time that I didn’t mention or present any knitting project. Instead of that, it seems I put lot of my energy on growing my chillies and painting
Well, now with the completion of this Cable Luxe sweater, needless to say, it explains a lot about everything including how I feel about knitting. It’s just so rewarding and relaxing, and it has so much fun.
This sweater’s pattern is from Lion Brand Yarn and was free for download for a limited period of time back to last November. I happened to get it at that time, but now you will only find the corrections on the webpage. There have been lots of complaints about the original patterns, especially the project group on Ralvery, where many knitters found quite some mistakes.
I started to notice those mistakes at quite a later stage, so I have all the back piece done in the wrong way (central cable is upside down and small cables on both sides are all done facing the same direction), though I really don’t think it is a big deal. I mean who would notice if left and right cables are not symmetrical??
However, I do agree that this is a relatively poorly written pattern, for instance, the pattern didn’t give any instruction to explain how to deal with those slipped stitched on the RS when they are on the WS. It took me quite some time to figure out myself that I need to purl them on WS instead of slip or knit them.
Frankly, I feel ridiculously proud of this sweater. It’s light, warm and has dramatic shape. I didn’t use the suggested yarn but I am so glad that I chose this sort of mohair, though I haven’t found anyone else who had done the same yet. Because of the weight that you can imagine that the pattern might cause, actually mohair weight 8ply yarn was really a wise choice. It won’t make the whole sweater look too drappy or too heavy, and the natural swinging just moves beautifully as you goes around.
Guess what? Even my picky husband says I have done a good job. He declared that he “really likes it” when I was trying it on tonight. OMG, though I don’t really mind what his opinons are in regard to my knitting, that’s really somethins, isn’t it?
