I guess we are supposed to do 3 important things for this kind of celebration:

a) Eat a lot spicy and hot Chongqing dishes:
That’s easy!!! It’s just something that you don’t have to worry about at a Chongqing Styled celebration. Everyone brought a dish in. What’s put on the table were Suan Cai Yu (Pickled vegetable fish stew), Fuqi Fei Pian (Couple’s spicy beef stomach and tongue), Liang Fen (Some cold dish made of Mung Bean Powder), Shao Bai (a kind of steaming pork with preserved vegetable Ya Cai), Pao Jiao La Zi Ji ( pickled chilli stir-fry chicken). I cooked spring rolls and Gui Yuan Fu Ru Hong Shao Rou (a kind of pork stew). Kids loved spring rolls, so did the adults. My stew was also popular.

b) Play the cards “Dou Di Zhu”:
We are supposed to do that in the afternoon, but it’s a girl’s dominating group, not having many people interested or good at playing Dou Di Zhu (Fighting Landlord), so we ended up practising spinning the cloth around like acrobat performers. My husband was particularly working hard on that. He at least spent one hour practising. His passion was triggered by Michael, a British artist, one of girls’ husband. Men are not really good at doing such kind of thing. Women pick it up quickly, like me and other 3 girls. We can manage to do it after a couple of times, but men still perform badly after an hour.

c) Watch CCTV’s program of Chinese New Year celebration from last night:
Wow! I couldn’t find a more boring program. Why the CCTV treat the public like we are only 3 years old kids? The only one that I can put up with was a dancing program Rainy Alley and a Tai-chi martial performance.

The party went on from lunch time until 8:30pm. We split the left-over food, made a big mess at Grace’s Amaroo home. I played enough piano songs and Barbie dolls collection. They thought I was like a kid as I love Barbie and extremely was fascinated with her figure, hair and clothes. I also was trying to get on Tina, Grace’s 8-years-old girl’s bike. Oh my god! I am so sick. Luckily I was not born in late 90s’. Otherwise, I would have cost my Mom and Dad a lot of fortune on luxury toys :-)
