Nearly 4 months later after my doctor requested me to do a pap smear, I finally have it done today, and also have got checked up with my blood and urine. I felt like I just handed over some overdued assignment and it was such a relief.
I guess probably there is no woman who actually likes their experience with Pap Smear or anything that’s related to cervix check-ups. It always feels weird no matter you do it the first time or have done it a hundred times. That’s why I told my doctor, a male, (he is actually one of the best doctors in Queanbeyan and an obstetrician) that I needed to get my pap smear done somewhere else, with a female doctor or nurse. I guess female doctors just know your feeling much better and normally have more sense about how you feel and what you are embarrassed about.
Like this female nurse, Sister Sue, that I had today, she was gental and caring. I really feel comfortable enough to go back next time and would be happy to hand over my body to her again. She gave me enough space and privacy to prepare myself and response to the procedure. She always tried to let me know what she was up to for every second and how she was going to do the next.
The whole procedure only lasted about 2 minutes. There was no horrible things, like what my female colleagues and I had talked about before, such as cold clamps, etc, ever had come to my attention or anything just had gone beyond my comfort zone.
But maybe you are interested to hear this: my blood pressure was a little bit higher than normal, according to Sister Sue. Mind you that I have never had my blood pressure abnormal before, so you see, who said I was really that relaxed and not nervous at all?
The feelings afterwards? I am just so glad that I got it done and it’s over. If this one is ok, I will not have to get onto that clinic bed for at least 2 years. Thanks the God!
